RECIPE: Beef Roast.. Nom.

Hello my darlings. It's been a while since I did a recipe post for you.
I remember doing one for cupcakes & American style pancakes before, they went down very well.
The colder seasons are now here & roast dinners are a must.
For me, roast dinners are the perfect comfort food.

Last night, I decided to cook a Beef roast for my family (I love to cook!)
Thought I'd share my easy roast dinner recipe with you. This is going to be a brief recipe as it's so easy & simple.

Ingredients (based on family of 5)
Brisket of Beef (any meat, Beef is my fave.. I have no clue on weight etc)
A bag of ordinary potatoes
4 Cloves Garlic
1 large Onion
Carrots
Dried Oregano
Goose Fat
BISTO! (obviously other gravy brands out there)
Butter
Salt & Pepper

Step 1:

Brown the Brisket of beef in some melted butter, this seals in all the juices and makes sure the meat doesn't dry out in the oven.

A few minutes on each side, when done.. place it in a tray. Pour the butter over the top. Cover with foil and add to a pre-heated oven. Leave on Gas mark 7 for 30 mins then turn it down to Gas mark 4 for an hour (depending on how you cooked you like the beef)

Step 2:

Start peeling! Carrots, chop them & put them into some cold water ready to be cooked later.
Peel potatoes and chop them into Quarters (Depending on what size you prefer roast potatoes)
Part boil them for 10-15 mins and drain.

Step 3:

Add your goose fat to a tray. Put it in the oven until goose fat has melted and the tray is warm. Chop the garlic & onion into chunks and throw them in.

Add the potatoes and make sure you coat them all with goose fat. Season & sprinkle on some Oregano. Place in the oven.

Step 4:

After 35-40 mins of the beef being in the oven, take it out and turn it over. Cover it back up and put it back in the oven.
Do the same with potatoes every 30 mins.
Put the carrots on about 15-20 mins before you serve dinner.

Step 5:

Take beef out when nicely cooked, this obviously depends on how you like your beef. I like it well done, so I leave mine in for a while. If you're worried about it drying out, cook on a low heat & keep basting it with the juices.
Always let the meat rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 6:

In this 5 minutes, you can get the gravy on :) Pour any juices from beef into the gravy.

That's all it takes, it's so easy! I did forget to make yorkshire puddings but I added stuffing instead (the mix.. just add water & place in oven 30mins before dinner is served! ;) ) And yes, I have onion rings haha I love onion rings & gravy.. don't ask!

Happy Cooking!

EMMYs 2012 Fashion! Best & Worst.

I can't help but love award ceremonies, purely to see what designers some celebrities have chosen to design their gowns.
Last night, I kept seeing images on Twitter of some of these gowns, claws were out this year huh? Some very beautiful dresses, but equally some not so beautiful. So this is my time to pretend I'm on Fashion Police ;)

Best.

1. Sophie Vergara - Wearing a Zuhair Murad turquoise sequin number. She looks like a mermaid, absolutely stunning!

2. Padma Lakshmi -  In Monique lluillier. Wow! I love this. Just goes to show, sometimes the simpler the better.

3. Julianne Hough - Like I said earlier, the claws were out this year. Another fabulous choice. This Georges Hobeika number is literally covered in Swarovski crystals.. Jealous much? To think she is only 23. So elegant!

They were my favourites, now lets get onto my not so favourites.

Worst.
1. Amy Poehler - Wearing Stella McCartney. For such a pretty woman, she could've chosen a dress that really flattered her shape and would've looked stunning. The bad fitting & design of this dress has made her look "Frumpy"

2. Ashley Judd - Wearing Carolina Herrera. Looks more like a bridesmaid dress. Not a fan of the colour, I think Ashley Judd could've done a hell of a lot better.

3. Lena Dunham - I do think this Prada number is nice, but its a little too much and not the right shape. Doesn't matter what shape or size you are, there are always dresses out there that FLATTER every shape.

Being Joan Rivers is kind of fun, although I've been a lot nicer lol

Nioxin..Hair system kit. First Review.

Happy Sunday my beauts! I refuse to leave my bed today, although I have a bit of a cold so i'm using this as my excuse.

This week has been a good one, received some good news and seems like everything is finally coming together :) I'll let you in on it soon :) They say good things happen to those who wait.. I've waited long enough!

On to the Nioxin review..

I posted an introduction on this 3 part system, two weeks ago.

I must say, so far so good.
"70% of people noticed a difference after 4 weeks of use"
After two weeks of use, I've noticed my hair doesn't get as greasy as it used to. I still wash my hair everyday like I did before but I could get away with washing it every two days. Unfortunately, I have hair OCD so I can't go a day without washing my hair. Does anyone else have this issue too?

I've noticed that after i've blow dried my hair, my hair stays so straight I can get away with not straightening it.
Texture and consistency wise, which is the most important factor about this hair kit..
I've noticed how much heavier my hair feels. I'm sure this shampoo & conditioner add some sort protection layer to each strand, making it feel much thicker than before.

At the moment, i'm really enjoying this hair kit. I will post again in two week for a final review.

Have any of you ever heard of or used this hair kit? How did it go for you?

The Winter season is upon us :)

YES! That's a big fat smiley face in the title. I won't lie.. I LOVE the cold weather.
I know, I complain about feeling cold but the cold weather brings me to the realisation that Cosy nights in, Bonfire night, Diwali, Halloween & Christmas are on their way.
I love wearing layers & cute winter jumpers. It's a little sad but I can't help it.. & let's not forget the yummy flavoured hot drinks available at Costa & Starbucks over the colder months!

One thing I have never invested in is a pair of winter boots. I refuse to buy UGGS. I just dont 'get' them? They don't flatter anyones feet. I understand they're comfy on inside but honestly.. I can't get my head around them.
I've decided to buy winter boots this year but I have no clue where to even look?

I'd like something totally different to the "UGG" type boots, not really fussed on the pricing. Help me, my fellow bloggers/readers. If you can think of any I'd like. Comment below and let me know :)

Nioxin.. Hair System Kit. Review.. Part 1.

Evening my fab blog readers. I hope each & every one of you are well :)
I'm in bed as snug as a bug with a flask of soya milk tea hehe the winter is upon us and I love it!

I was recently given this Nioxin - Hair system kit. Yes, I'd heard of Nioxin but never thought it appealed to me till now.
As a teenager I moaned a lot about my hair being too thick. My friends had thinner hair and I thought that was really normal. As the years have passed I've noticed my strands of hair are beginning to get thin and my hair in general has lost its thickness.

They have 5 systems. Number 1 being for very fine hair, 5 being for medium-course hair which I'm using at the moment.

The 3 part system comes with a Cleanser, a Scalp Revitaliser & a Scalp treatment.

1. Cleanser/Shampoo - Basically takes the fatty acids & anything from the enviroment blocking the hair follicles.

2. Scalp Revitaliser/Conditioner - Just a normal conditioner, used to tame the hair after cleansing.

3. Scalp Treatment - Contains antioxidents to help the scalp remain clean.

This is my very 1st week of using it so I will be doing a week by week review for the next 4 weeks.

"70% Users Notice Thicker, Denser hair in 4 weeks"
This kit retails at around £20-25 from various online retailers. I will let you know if it's worth the money towards the end.

I will let you know how I go. If any of you have used this treatment then, please get in touch!

Wella.. My hair does look nice & smooth.

Hey my lovelies.. It's Friday and I'm at home.. chilling! Absolute BLISS.
I have a nice 5 day weekend. Got so many fab plans to meet friends, eat.. drink.. & Obviously BLOG.. Duh! ;)

Recently, I've been using this product as I noticed my hair was lacking the smoothness and softness it once had. I think it has slowly lost it's shine & healthiness due to the fact that I blow dry & straighten it every other day, which is never good for your locks.

"Intensive Smoothing treatment for luxurious suppleness. Perfectly smooths and controls the hair structure. Detangles, calms and controls the hair structure. Cares for coarse hair and creates suppleness."

I've never really bothered with "Hair masks" before, but I thought i'd give this a go.
I've been using this everyday for about 2 weeks. It has the same feel, texture and consistency of a normal conditioner. It smells of an aftershave which doesn't last so do not panic! The smell fades after you wash it out.

I've been using my normal shampoo which is not a Wella product, towel drying the hair then applying this.
You leave it in for about 5 minutes and then wash it out.

Excuse another mirror photo but I had no-one there to take a photo of my hair for me lol
As you can tell though, it has a smooth & shiny look to it which is down to the mask. It stayed straight this day too which my hair never tends to do.
The mask retails at around £17.
I'm not sure that i'd buy this product again, only because I've used products in the past that have given me a similar look but have been slightly cheaper in price.

Would you spend £17 on a hair mask or continue using conditioners?

Tell me about it.. Stud!

I totally forgot to share my birthday treat with you. A few of you have already seen them on Instagram. I treated myself to Sam Edelman studded shoes.
I'm so very in love with them, I love to buy shoes I can't walk in (Ha!) If they look good, they're totally worth the pain!
They arrived on my birthday too which was the highlight of my whole weekend. Excited to wear them out :)
